About my design
by Luke...
I read an article in Wired about how a engineering marvel of a railway has been built that connects central China with the remote and rural mountianous region of Tibet.
Technology and the world will now be brought easliy to an area that was once only attainable by an ardous journey.
There are always benifits and drawbacks to what is thought of as "progress", but there will be definite cultural calamities.

This is my humble attempt at the calligraphic brushstrokes used in traditional chinese ink sketches. This design is inspired by those great and decisive masters of the brush.

I love the mix of the old Japanese brush style with modern technology! Placement is awesome too, $5!

I like it a lot, but I'd love it if the "H" was slightly more subtle, and the "journey" in front was made to look longer and possibly more arduous...

Agreed ^. The "H" is just a little too blatant, I'd like to see it blend in with the rest of the design, so at first it looks traditional then "oh hey there's a helicopter and pad in there too."

Just my opinion, though--- nicely drawn either way.

ahhh, well... the tight-rope of subtlety is a treacherous act of balance.

I like the concept and the design. Even before I read the comment about what it reallys meant, I liked it anyways, so good job on getting the design and simplicity to look nice. :)

this is very pretty. i definitely this the red should not stand out so much--maybe more a rusty red color?

nice idea but that's not what tibetan buildings look like. nor (to my knowledge) does tibet really have trees like that, especially in the more mountainous regions (of cultural tibet, of course).

i think it would be cooler if you drew in a nomad's tent, with the landscape fitting the actual location. i mean, i realize it's a bit of a satire, but i think it could be pretty sweet if the details were a little more accurate.

Good concept, I agree with the "H" thing. Also, shouldn't the giant "H" be in Chinese? I think the heli should be the spot of color because it's the thing that's really out of place there. Or maybe the hut's roof should be red and the heli should be more subtle. Put the hut way up in the mountains, resubmit and it might win... well, I'd buy it.
