Haven't really been using the half-tone effect since I submitted "take my hand everythings fine." Hope you guys like this one.

It looks kinda like a weird chili made out of smoke and other stuff.

Not bad.

Why are you burning a lump of fat with a rose growing out of it?

What are you guys using to get that halftone effect anyway?

I did this in photoshop so...

1) make a new layer and fill it with whatever color you wanna use.
2) apply vector mask and reveal all
3) in the mask area, create a gradient, this will create a gradient portion of the color layer.
4) apply halftone filter to the mask.

I'm not sure if that's the quickest way, but that's just how I do it.

This is such a killer idea and a fine illustration, i just think what this needs to put it over the edge and burn down the house is to be more all-over-the-place to accentuate the smoke and burning out of control effect. have the vines and roses wrap around and flail all over the place as if pieces of the smoke as well, and this would be perfect. As is, it's still a really nice piece that looks fab on those eye-popping shirt colors. nice work!

kinda looks like a cancerous toomor (new spelling? maybe it will catch on), but i like the idea. the smoke could use more gray.

Oh. I liked it until I read bobo's take on it. Now I'm suddenly seeing a cancerous tumor entwined in flowers acting as a wreath over a cross. I can't decide.3
